New John Deere DN345

The new variable-rate dry speader hits southwestern Oklahoma.

Western Equipment had a demonstration on the DN345, with 35 total in attendance. Mike Geralds, the AMS Specialist for Western Equipment, demonstrated the spreader on March 12, 2010. The demonstration of the DN345 was with a variable-rate application consisting of spreading Lime on a field near Martha, OK. Overall, Western Equipment was able to provide the benefits the DN345 can offer including: cost reduction, time savings, and accurate placement of product with variable-rate technology.

With input cost rising ever so fast, variable-rate applications are becoming more popular everyday with Oklahoma producers. Variable-rate provides the ability to control the application of nutrients to crop production units and is an essential part of precision farming. Western Equipment has been working closely with their customers to keep them up to date on the rapidly changing technology. Variable-rate technology has evolved over the years, and has a severe impact on input costs. With the new technology implemented on the DN345, farmers are now able to apply two products in one pass, saving time and money.

Educating the Customer

Continuing education is an essential ingredient to all trades and industries, including agriculture.  In December of 2010, Mike Geralds of Western Equipment in Altus, provided training for Altus area farmers discussing the new products and upcoming software for John Deere's Ag Management Solutions.  The main focus of the class was on the benefits and operating techniques of the new GreenStar 2 Display 2600, with touch screen.  Western Equipment's AMS department has been growing with great success, due in part to our commitment to provide you, the customer, with the latest in technological advancements in the world of agriculture.

If you'd like to sign up for a training in your area, or if you'd just like to find out more about the latest in Agricultural Management Solutions, contact a Western Equipment AMS Specialist today!
