Read MoreEver been driving along and seen large bales of white stuff wrapped in vibrant colors? Well, it's cotton inside those bales, and those colors have meaning!
A company called Tama, in collaboration with John Deere, offers cotton wraps in distinct colors, each with its own story and purpose. Keep reading to learn more about the mystery behind these colors.

These are Tama's premium wraps, known as Tamarap Plus Premium. Predominantly, you'll spot these colors in fields and gins. Both colors are identical in terms of material and functionality. The adhesive strip runs 35 feet around the bale, ensuring robustness and ease during the ginning process.
That said, the Breast Cancer Awareness Pink Wrap isn't just a color; it's a tribute. Initiated by a farmer who lost his sister to breast cancer, this wrap serves as a symbol of awareness. Tama not only embraces the idea but also contributes to breast cancer research with every pink wrap purchase. It's a color that symbolizes hope, remembrance, and solidarity for the cause.
This wrap is a cost-effective alternative. The primary distinction lies in the adhesive strip, which is only 18 inches wide. This reduction in adhesive can lead to a less robust bale, making it slightly more challenging during the ginning process.
Regardless of color, Tama bale wraps all share a few key features. They are all made from the same material and promise UV protection that lasts a minimum of six months. They include RFID tags on each wrap meant to link bales to specific customers. And they offer pre-cut wraps on each roll leaving enough for 24 modules. This reduces the risk of plastic contamination.
While the blue wrap might save a farmer money initially, the bales might end up requiring more care during the ginning process due to its reduced adhesive leading to more cost down the line. On the other hand, the yellow and pink wraps, with their extended adhesive strips, provide added robustness and protection. When bales often sit in a field for weeks before being brought to a gin, this peace of mind can make all the difference for someone looking to ensure a better grade for their product and yield.
Ultimately, the choice boils down to individual preferences and operational needs.

Tama cotton wraps, in every color, represent quality, functionality, and in the case of the pink wrap, an honorable cause.
