John Deere Z5 mowers are known for their robustness and versatility. But did you know you can enhance its utility even further by adding a yard tool kit? This kit provides a convenient storage solution for essential gardening tools like rakes, shovels, or brooms. Let's dive into the installation process.

In this Kit:

  • Yard tool mounting frame/bracket
  • 1 carriage-head bolt and nut

Tools Needed:

  • 13mm ratchet and socket

Prepping the Mower Frame

The yard tool kit is designed to fit snuggly around the left rear corner of your John Deere Z5 Zero-Turn Mower.

Before starting installation, you will need to first prep the mower frame. Do this by completely removing the bolt located on the left side of the mower's frame, as shown here, using your 13mm ratchet and socket. Safely set this bolt aside; you'll need it to fasten the yard tool kit to the mower frame later.

Next, focus on the two bolts at the rear of the mower. Using your 13mm ratchet and socket, loosen these bolts just enough so they stick out slightly. This will allow the yard mount frame to slide down into place easily.

Mounting the Yard Tool Kit Frame

With the bolts loosened, position the yard tool mounting frame so the notches along the bottom of the frame align with the bolts. Slide these notches down over the loosened bolts at the front of the frame. Then, tighten the bolts to ensure the frame remains secure.

Now, reinsert the bolt you set aside earlier into the bottom of the frame. Secure it with its corresponding nut, but don't tighten it fully yet.

To secure the top portion of the yard tool mounting frame to the mower frame, algin the hole at the top of the mounting frame with the pre-drilled hole in the mower's frame, as shown below. Insert the carriage-head bolt included in your yard tool kit and secure it with the provided nut. With all bolts in place, it's time to tighten them securely using your 13mm ratchet and socket.

Installing Rubber Gaskets

The kit comes with two rubber gaskets designed to reduce vibration and ensure tools remain securely in place. Fit these gaskets into the large top and bottom holes of the yard mount frame where the yard tool will rest.

And that's it! WIth the yard tool kit installed, you can now conveniently store essential gardening tools. Whether it's a rake, broom, or shovel, your John Deere Z5 mower is now equipped to carry them with ease.
