How to Install a Footrest Kit on a John Deere Z300 Zero-Turn Mower

    - 2 footrest handles
    - 4 hex-head bolts
    - 4 nuts

Tools needed:

    - Ratchet
    - 13-mm socket

Mower Prep

Before installing the John Deere Footrest Kit, you'll need to remove the foot platform from your Z300 Zero-Turn Mower. This will allow you to access the backside of the foot platform and more easily install the footrest kit. Take your time to carefully detach the foot platform according to your mower's manual.

Once the foot platform is removed, locate the two small, non-raised, or flat holes on the left and right side of the foot platform, as shown here. These are the designated mounting locations for the footrest kit. The footrests will provide additional comfort by giving you alternative foot positions while mowing.

Installation

To begin installation, hold one of the footrest handles flush to the top of the foot platform aligning the holes in the handles to the holes on the flatform we pointed out earlier in this article. Next, feed the bolts through the hex-head holes on footrest handle and the designated holes on the foot platform so that the bolt is exposed on the backside of the platform. Twist the nuts onto the bolts and secure them using a 13-mm ratchet and socket, like shown. Repeat the process for the other footrest, ensuring both footrests are aligned and evenly attached.

Once the nuts and bolts are tightened down and the handles are securely in place, return the foot platform to the mower to complete install.
