Installation
The mounting bracket
The mounting bracket holds the entire trash receptacle attachment together so you can take your bucket and grabber tool with you as you go. Because of this, it’s important it be installed correctly.
To install the bracket to your mower, locate the small, sideways, U-shaped portion of the bracket and slide it onto the “right leg” of the mower on which the right front wheel is attached. Be sure to slide the attachment onto the leg until it can no longer be moved further and that the bracket is placed directly against the castor of the wheel.
Next, insert the long bolt included in your kit through the holes on the U-shaped piece. Once in place, twist the locking washer and nut up onto the bottom of the bolt. You’ll also want to tighten this down using a 13mm wrench and socket, and you can use an impact driver or ratchet.
The grabber tool
The grabber tool itself comes pre-installed. That said, you will have to install a holder clip onto the mounting bracket in order to carry it with you and keep it in place while you drive.
To install this clip, place a small screw through the hole located between the two clips and thread the remaining exposed end through the hole found on the top of the mounting bracket where the grabber tool will rest, as shown below. Follow behind with a washer and nut and tighten using a 9mm socket and ratchet and a small Phillips head screwdriver.
Once the clip is installed, you can now easily mount your grabber tool, as shown. Be sure to mount the tool so that the grabber end is sideways rather than flat so that the hook at the end of the tool mount will fit between the “jaws” of the grabber. This will keep it from jostling loose while in motion. If you feel the need for a more secure mount, simply run a bungee cord through the hole on the back of the hook (shown below) and loop it around the tool as an extra security measure.
The bucket
Now onto the easiest step in this installation process: placing the bucket. To do this, simply push the bucket down into the mounting bracket until it hits the bottom, as shown.
Notice when doing this how the bracket “fingers” are a bit tighter than the circumference of the bucket itself. This is to create tension and allow for a better grip to prevent the bucket from jostling and/or falling out while driving when it is both full and empty. Similar to the grabber tool, you can further secure things by running a bungee cord, zip, ties, etc. through both the bucket handle and the holes located on the mounting bracket “fingers,” shown here. This is optional, but likely a good idea if you are driving through rougher terrain or inclement weather, or if you anticipate picking up a lot of trash.
