The Ag Tech Program at a Glance

The Western Equipment Ag Tech Program is designed for young men and women who want to turn their passion for technology and agriculture into a fulfilling career. Here’s what the program is all about:

  • Flexible Education Paths: Choose between a one-year or two-year college option, allowing you to tailor your education to your goals and schedule.
  • Paid School Tuition: Western Equipment invests in your future by reimbursing your tuition.  For a chance to reduce the financial burden up front, high school juniors and seniors are invited to compete in the Ag Tech Invitational for an opportunity to earn scholarship dollars.
  • Paid Tools & Uniforms: All the tools and uniforms you need are provided, so you’re ready to hit the ground running from day one.
  • On-the-Job Training: Gain hands-on experience working with state-of-the-art John Deere equipment, both in the classroom and at Western Equipment locations.
  • Guaranteed Job Placement: Upon graduation, you’re not left searching for a job—you’re stepping into a career with a trusted employer.

How the Program Works

Getting started with the Ag Tech Program is a straightforward process. Here’s the path to your new career:

  • Apply for the WE Program: Begin your journey by submitting your application.
  • Secure Sponsorship: Partner with a Western Equipment location and select your preferred school.
  • Complete Admissions: Finish the campus admissions process to secure your spot at your school of choice.  Not sure where you want to go?  Representatives from Garden City Community College (GCCC) and Texas State Technical College (TSTC) in Waco would love to visit with you.
  • Gain Real-World Experience: Work at your sponsor location during the summer before your first year of school and over longer breaks, building valuable skills and relationships.
  • Maintain Academic Excellence: Keep a 2.5 GPA or higher and complete required program quizzes.
  • Graduate and Start Your Career: Upon graduation, you’ll report to work, ready to make an impact from day one.

Throughout your time in the program, you’ll receive ongoing training and support, ensuring you’re always growing and adapting to new technologies and challenges.

Financial Support and Benefits

One of the standout features of the Ag Tech Program is its comprehensive financial support:

  • Tuition Reimbursement: Tuition is reimbursed in annual installments, making your education even more affordable.
  • Competitive Pay: Earn $16–$18 per hour while in school, with full-time starting pay based on your GPA after graduation.
  • Guaranteed Raise: When you begin earning commission, you’re guaranteed a $2 raise, reflecting Western Equipment’s commitment to rewarding hard work and achievement.
  • Housing and Meals: On-campus housing and meal plans are available, making it easy to focus on your studies and training.
  • Financial Aid: Additional financial aid is available from GCCC and TSTC for those who qualify, ensuring that cost is never a barrier to your success.

Where You’ll Study

The Ag Tech Program partners with two respected institutions:

Garden City Community College (Garden City, KS): Offers a 20-month associate’s degree program with 68 credit hours of specialized John Deere courses and general studies. Tuition is $77 per credit hour, with student fees at $62 per credit hour.

Texas State Technical College (Waco, TX): Provides 16- or 20-month programs, including 60 credit hours of John Deere and diesel mechanics courses. The current estimated cost is $13,201, with on-campus housing and meals available.
